BREEAM announced as event partner for the first sustainable estates forum

Stable Events will be hosting the first sustainable estates forum in June and is pleased to announce BREEAM as event partner. BREEAM is the internationally recognised measure of sustainability for buildings and communities. Used in more than 70 countries, more than 560,000 certificates have been issued under BREEAM on more than 24,000 projects around the world. More than 2.2 million buildings and communities are registered for certification.

The sustainable estates forum is Stable’s first cross-sector event, spanning education, healthcare, leisure, retail, commercial and residential sectors.

Toby Filby, Stable’s Managing Director, said: “Collaboration between key stakeholders is at the heart of good sustainable practice, and to meet this need the sustainable estates forum will connect and engage the supply chain to ensure the most appropriate solutions for building projects are achieved. BREEAM is at the heart of sustainability and we are delighted that they are our event partner; our event simply would not be complete without their representation.”

Simon Guy, BREEAM Marketing Manager, said: “This event brings key decision-makers from a broad range of sectors together in one place to discuss ways in which estates can be designed, managed and operated in a more sustainable way – something that is central to the BREEAM assessment standard.”

The forum’s seminars will consider the needs of the estate over the long term, from master-planning through construction and the building in operation. Delegates will share their ideas for longer life buildings, reusing and upgrading existing stock, sourcing lower embodied carbon products, reducing site waste and using recycled materials from the foundation up.

Specifiers and suppliers at the forum will discuss the materials and technologies that make a difference, from ground source heating to the solar panels on the roof; from low energy lighting and low water usage sanitaryware to low VOC paints and floorcoverings – not forgetting the permeable paving and the cycle spaces in the car park.

A blend of offsite and traditional techniques come together to help estates managers achieve the targets set by BREEAM, while strategies such as Soft Landings can clarify the client brief from the outset, avoid reworking and wasted time and ensure operational performance is optimised from the start.

The sustainable estates forum is being held at Heythrop Park Resort in Oxfordshire on 28 & 29 June 2017. Those actively delivering sustainable estates attend as complimentary project delegates including estates and facilities professionals, clients, architects, contractors, project managers and consultants.
